Economy of Words: Parenting & Communication
Being a parent
completely changes your outlook on life, the way you live, the way you think,
and the way you communicate. I don’t ever think anyone sits down and really
thinks about what being a parent means or how it affects us as individuals and
how the children are affected as individuals. We are not thinking about
ourselves any longer, we are thinking about our children. I don’t know about
you but it is hard for me to find the time to communicate with anyone else
besides my 3 year old (laughs.) The point is, as parents, we have to change the
way we communicate our feelings, needs, expectations, and emotions, based on
how our children will receive those words and understand them. For instance,
what would take five works to explain, takes more than ten. If I were to tell
my three year old that he is being disruptive, “You are being disruptive.” He
would just look at me with this glazed over look and say, “Okay.” Then he would
proceed with his actions. However, since I need to change my communication
style in order to be effective, I need to say something like this, “When you
bang that toy on the ground repeatedly, it makes a really loud noise and then
no one else can hear what the other people are saying and we are trying to talk
to each other.” The economy of words definitely needs to be worked on, which is
an everyday lesson that we teach our children.

Podbean.com
So far, the best, free, podcast hosting site is podbean.com. I like this hosting site because it is easy to navigate and provides helpful information on how to set up and design your podcasting website. They also have shortcuts to make it easy to publish a new podcast. The site allows you to share your podcast in many different ways and also allows you to add links, widgets, and images to customize your podcast site. I did not realize that there was such a thing as a podcasting web-site. I just thought a podcast was one video that was posted. I guess that answers the questions of, posted where?http://www.podbean.com/
Podcast Answer Man . Com
The best How-To guide on podcasting that I found was podcastanswerman.com. This website provided all kinds of written information as well as many different podcasts surrounding the how-to's of podcasting. I really liked this site because this gentleman makes podcasting really simple and offers all of his information without having to hunt for it! He also offers this information for free. He offers information on how to get started, where to find a host, and what the best way to host a podcast would be. I would suggest checking out his website anytime!! http://podcastanswerman.com/learn-how-to-podcast/

A tip for adding images to your blog:
Adding images to your blog enables your reader to relate to you, visually. It is rather simple: while you are adding another post to your blog- simply press the add image button and pick a picture! When deciding which pictures to post, you want to be sure that your picture is appealing to your audience and flows with your topic of your blog. It is so important to keep your audience intrigued in what you are writing and an image only adds to your blog.
This is my wonderful family. The best day of fishing, ever! (yes my garlic scented power balls killed!!)
A tip for how to format a blog post:
When creating a blog post, you want to keep in mind who your audience is and what your topic is. For instance, my audience could be a wide range of people including, but not limited to, parents, step-parents, single parents, people who have chosen not to have children, etc... My topic-although rather in depth- is about my two step-children and my journey in raising them. All the while, choosing not to have children of my own. For my blog posts, I want to keep them funny, intriguing, emotional, and real; all at the same time. It is important to keep your audience emotionally attached to your blog so that they want to keep reading. You want to make sure that your reader will enjoy what you have written so that they want to see what is coming next!

Being a Step-mom with no children...
This blog came from needing to be able to talk a lot about something in my life. So, why not talk about my daily role as a step-mother!? I personally have chosen not to have children and am currently getting married to a man that has two of them. By far, the past 4 years have been the best of my life, with the largest, deepest, and most emotional lessons embedded in our every-day.
